Prophets review by Canberra Contemporary Art Space
We love a dress up, especially an ethical one. Lupa has opened a new store on Smith Street. It is a shop that only flogs fashionable stuff made by designers within 10 km’s of the retail outlet. Aiming to revive a localised rag trade, Lupa confronts the off shore sweat shop reality that has overcome most of the high street.
One Trick Pony performed to celebrate, inadvertently reminding us to stay limber and fit even if the couch and a doona are beckoning on these cold nights.
We saw the Prophets Band play on Brunswick Street, a free jazz revelation. They stopped punters dead in their tracks, mesmerized by the beats and the avant garde head dress. A conceptual circus of a night (refer to photos). Natalie Thomas
